Project Manager – Telecom Expense Management

Location: New York, NY

Contract Duration: 12 Months 

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with expertise in Telecom Expense Management, financial analysis, budgeting, and data reporting. The candidate will support telecom expense management operations, focusing on cost optimization, invoice auditing, vendor payments, financial reporting, and process improvements.

The role involves analyzing large datasets, reviewing wireless and wired telecom expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and optimizing expenditures. The selected candidate will work closely with IT Telecom Services and Expense Management teams to improve financial processes, monitor budgets, manage vendor expenses, and present analytical findings to leadership.

• Establish and optimize processes for managing telecom expenses, including mobile, landline, wireless, cloud, and data services.

• Perform detailed financial analysis of telecom expenses, carrier invoices, and vendor reports to identify billing discrepancies and cost-saving opportunities.

• Review and audit wireless and wired telecom usage and charges to identify overbilling and unnecessary expenditures.

• Analyze large datasets and monthly carrier reports to ensure data accuracy and financial integrity.

• Reconcile mobile device asset records with wireless carrier portals and databases.

• Analyze approximately 30,000 mobile device records across multiple wireless carriers to identify discrepancies and improve asset management.

• Generate ServiceNow reports and validate asset information against carrier records.

• Review mobile device usage and non-usage reports and identify opportunities to reduce expenses.

• Monitor vendor expenses and compare actual spending against contract funding and budgets.

• Prepare financial forecasts, budget reports, and expense tracking documentation.

• Track planned and actual expenses to support annual budget planning.

• Prepare and evaluate mid-year and year-end financial forecasts.

• Investigate budget variances and recommend corrective actions.

• Monitor procurement requirements, new purchases, contract modifications, and vendor payments.

• Develop project status reports to monitor financial performance, project timelines, and budget compliance.

• Prepare detailed analytical reports, presentations, and Power BI dashboards for management.

• Gather business requirements and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

• Use advanced Excel functions, pivot tables, databases, and AI tools to analyze large datasets.

• Identify financial trends and recommend strategies to optimize telecom expenditures.

• Support automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve reporting efficiency.

• Communicate complex financial findings and recommendations to leadership.

• Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry practices related to telecom expense management.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.

• Experience in project financial management, budgeting, forecasting, or auditing preferred.

• Experience in Telecom Expense Management, including wireless, wired, voice, and data services.

• Extensive experience analyzing large datasets, financial reports, and wireless carrier invoices.

• Strong knowledge of invoice auditing, expense tracking, vendor payments, and cost optimization.

• Experience identifying billing discrepancies, carrier overcharges, and cost-saving opportunities.

• Experience with ServiceNow reporting and dashboards.

• Knowledge of PeopleSoft and financial management systems.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex data analysis.

• Experience with Power BI dashboards, PowerPoint presentations, and database management.

• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to gather business requirements and develop process improvements.

• Experience with budget management, financial forecasting, and project expenditure tracking.

• Knowledge of automation tools and methods for improving manual processes.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
