About the Position

Etheredge Industrial Services is seeking a hands-on Motor Mechanic to repair, troubleshoot, and service a variety of industrial motors and electromechanical equipment. The ideal candidate has basic mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to follow established work procedures and safety requirements.

In this role, you will inspect, disassemble, clean, repair, reassemble, and test equipment to ensure proper operation and serviceability.

Key Responsibilities

• Review job cards and work orders to understand job status, repair requirements, authorized work, and expected serviceability.
• Troubleshoot and test AC and DC motors and other electromechanical equipment to identify known or suspected problems.
• Disassemble equipment while identifying, documenting, and evaluating component condition and configuration.
• Clean equipment and components using appropriate methods and equipment, including parts washers, steamers, caustic tanks, and glass bead blasting equipment.
• Inspect components and identify the correct replacement parts needed for repairs.
• Repair or replace worn or defective components, including bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, tachometers, fans, and end shields.
• Reassemble and retest equipment to verify proper operation and output.
• Accurately complete required job documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Operate specialized repair, testing, and shop equipment as needed.
• Handle, lift, adjust, tighten, and secure heavy objects as required to complete repairs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Follow all established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including appropriate eye and hearing protection.
• Assist other mechanics and service center personnel with skilled and general duties as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a hands-on apprenticeship preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in mechanical or electromechanical repair.
• Ability to understand, perform, and retain technical and safety training.
• Ability to follow instructions, work procedures, and safety requirements established by supervision.

Physical Requirements

This position involves hands-on industrial repair work and requires the ability to:

• Frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Regularly lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 100 pounds, with appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment when needed.
• Stand, walk, reach, handle tools and components, and use hands for detailed work.
• Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Meet the visual requirements of the job, including close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, with corrective lenses if needed.
